At Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, Inc. ("WWS", "we" or "us"), we are committed to protecting your privacy and keeping your information safe. WWS processes information about you in a few different ways. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and keep information that can identify you ("Personal Information") when you use books.wattpad.com/privacy (the "Site") and/or participate in WWS initiatives such as book pre-order campaigns (the "Initiatives").
By participating, using the Site, participating in the Initiatives, or submitting any Personal Information by participating in the Initiatives, you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information as described below in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to the use of your Personal Information in these ways, please stop using the Site and/or stop participating in the Initiatives.
This is important; we hope you will take time to read it carefully.
What is Personal Information?
"Personal Information" is any information that can identify you. This may include, but is not limited to, your name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, age, gender, marital status, health information, financial status, credit card information and credit history.
What do we collect and Why do we use it?
If you’re just browsing our Site, we don’t collect any Personal Information about you. In order for you to participate in the Initiatives, we need to collect and process some Personal Information. Depending on your participation in the Initiatives that may include:

Information that is necessary for the participation in the Initiatives, such as your name, email address, date of birth, Address and proof of purchase.
If you participate in the Initiatives, via third parties like Facebook and Google, they send us information that is necessary for your participation in the Initiatives, such as your name, email address, gender and birthdate.

We treat the personal information above as private by default, so it won’t be displayed on the Site, revealed to other participants/users, or rented or sold to anyone unless the data has been anonymized.
Why do you ask for my date of birth?
Children under 13 are not permitted to participate in the Initiatives, and so this Privacy Policy makes no provision for their participation in the Initiatives.
If you are a parent or guardian and learn that your minor child has provided us with Personal Information without your consent, please contact us using the details below.
Why do we collect and use your email?
We use email as an important way to communicate with you. You may also opt out or unsubscribe from any future email communications from within a link provided in each email we send you. However, please note that in all cases you will continue to receive all system e-mails (e.g. those regarding forgotten user passwords) and legal notices (e.g. updates to our policies) from us.
How do we share your Personal Information?
We may share your Personal Information with third-party service providers, but only where it’s necessary to facilitate your participation in any of the Initiatives (e.g., third party judges of contests, third party fulfillment companies that need your address to send gifts, etc.). When we share data with third-party services that support our delivery of the Initiatives, we require that they protect your Personal Information to the same standards we do.
We do not and will not release, rent or sell your Personal Information, except in the following very limited situations:
To comply with an applicable law (including investigations of any crime), regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request;
To enforce or apply our policies, including investigation of potential violations;
To protect the rights, property, or safety of WWS, our employees, our users, participants or the public;
If WWS is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, in which case we will continue to ensure the confidentiality of any Personal Information and give affected users notice before Personal Information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We never post anything to your Facebook or other third-party accounts without your permission.
Some application features may use YouTube's API Services, this usage is covered by Google's Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy).
WWS does not access any of your personal information from YouTube's API, nor do we record your interactions with it.
Where do we store your Personal Information?
Our Initiatives are mainly provided from our offices in Canada. However, Personal Information that you submit through the Initiatives may be transferred to countries other than where you reside (for example, to our servers in the United States) for processing and storage. In addition, our third party service providers also may process or store your Personal Information on servers outside your country, including in Canada or the US.
By participating in any of the Initiatives, or submitting any Personal Information via the Initiatives, you authorize WWS and its authorized service providers to use and process your Personal Information in these countries. Please be aware that the privacy protections and the rights of authorities and government agencies to access your personal information in some of these countries may not be equivalent to those in your country.
Access to your personal information
If you wish to access any Personal Information that we hold about you, or request that we correct or delete the Personal Information that we hold about you, you may contact us via email at privacyWWS@wattpad.com. We will comply with such requests to the extent required by law or our policies, and subject to any limitations in our systems.
How does WWS protect my Personal Information?
We are continuously implementing and updating physical, organizational, contractual and technological security measures to protect your Personal Information from loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. The only employees who are granted access to your Personal Information are those with a business "need-to-know" or whose duties reasonably require such information. We support encryption on all transmissions to protect Personal Information submitted on our Site.
Non-personal information
WWS uses cookies, tracking pixels and similar technologies on our Site and in the Initiatives to collect information that cannot identify you as an individual ("non-personal information") that helps us provide our Initiatives to you and to learn how our Initiatives work. When you visit the Site and participate in the Initiatives, we use cookies and we also automatically collect various types of information by the use of "clear gifs" or "web beacons". Cookies allow us to "remember" what you have done before and personalize the Initiatives, and the automatically collected data provides us with Site usage statistics and other traffic data that is used to help diagnose problems, analyze trends and administer the Site and the Initiatives. When placing cookies or using web beacons and clear gifs, WWS does not collect Personal Information, and we do not combine the information we do collect by these means with other Personal Information to tell us who you are or what your e-mail address is. Some of our business partners, may use cookies on our Site. We have no access to, or control over, these cookies.
We may share non-personal information publicly and with various third parties like publishers or advertisers. For example, we may share information with advertisers or publicly to show trends about the general participation in our Initiatives.
Changes
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent; in other cases, please note that your continued participation in the Initiatives after any change means that you agree with, and consent to be bound by, the revised Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any changes in this Privacy Policy and do not wish your Personal Information to be subject to the revised Policy, you will need to email privacyWWS@wattpad.com and stop participating in the Initiatives.

California Resident Privacy Notice

This California Resident Privacy Notice supplements the information and disclosures contained in our Privacy Policy. It applies to individuals residing in California from whom we collect Personal Information as a business under the CCPA.
Personal Information Collection, Disclosure, and Sale
For the purposes of this notice, "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household, or as otherwise defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (California Civil Code §§ 1798.100 to 1798.199) and its implementing regulations, as amended or superseded from time to time ("CCPA").

Third parties for whom we have obtained your permission or instruction to disclose your Personal Information, such as your Facebook or other third-party accounts, or in connection with a merger, sale, or asset transfer, or as required by law and similar disclosures, including to government entities.
Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may exercise the following rights.
Right to Know and Access. You may submit a verifiable request for information regarding the: (1) categories of Personal Information collected, sold, or disclosed by us; (2) purposes for which categories of Personal Information are collected or sold by us; (3) categories of sources from which we collect Personal Information; (4) categories of third parties with whom we disclosed or sold Personal Information; and (5) specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you during the past twelve months.
Right to Delete. Subject to certain exceptions, you may submit a verifiable request that we delete Personal Information about you that we have collected from you.
Verification. Requests for access to or deletion of Personal Information are subject to our ability to reasonably verify your identity in light of the information requested and pursuant to relevant CCPA requirements, limitations, and regulations. To verify your request and access, modify or delete the Personal Information you have provided to us, please email us at privacyWWS@wattpad.com, we may verify your email address, IP address, and other data elements about you to respond to your requests to know or delete.
Right to Opt Out. In some circumstances, you may opt out of the sale of your Personal Information. Click the "Do Not Sell My Info" link to opt out of the sale of your Personal Information.
Right to Equal Service and Price. You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of your CCPA privacy rights, subject to certain limitations.
Shine the Light. We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information with non-affiliated companies for their direct marketing uses as contemplated by California’s "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83), unless we have your permission.

Authorizing an Agent. To authorize an agent to make a request to know, delete, or opt-out of sale on your behalf, please send a written authorization signed by you and the authorized agent to us via the Contact Information section below.
Do Not Track. There is no accepted standard on how to respond to Do Not Track signals, and we do not respond to such signals.
